It has been a while since I updated this blog properly, and yes I do have some very good excuses! I have recently completed my 3 year Illustration degree. The third year class of 2010 put up the final Illustration Exhibition on Thursday 3rd June, with a collection of everything we had completed this year for assessment. At 7.30pm, that was it. FIN. There was no looking back.
The weary students made their way to the Woodlane Campus Bar and from there staggered into Falmouth Town to carry on the night of celebrations.
Just when I thought the work had calmed down for a while, I receive an email confirming that my illustration work had been selected to represent Falmouth Uni in the New Blood Exhibition in London at the end of June. This meant collating all my work onto disc and reprinting out one of my children's books! Bring on the increased inhalation of Photomount and slicing up of my fingers with the scalpel. I admit, I miss those times.
The New Blood Show will be running at the end of June, however I am not sure on the exact dates...I will get back to you on that when I find out!
Luckily, the illustration commissions are beginning to happen now, and as exciting as it is, it's pretty darn scary too! This is the real world now. But I am glad that the work has started, and at a perfect time too having just finished the degree.
The busy life of an illustrator begins.
