This was an image request for the front of a dissertation for my lovely housemate's sister Heather. It was to incorporate a range of classic children's stories into one image in an exciting and innovating way. I loved creating this image, and of course including the classic Lil patterned forest! You may think this is the final easter illustration, but you'll be pleased (hopefully) to know that there will be a bonus image tomorrow!

RAIN. There has not been any rain as of late, but i just felt like doing this. Again, not much thought put into this as i actually fell asleep for 4 hours solid when i returned from uni today, and having woken up feeling very disorientated i wasn't in the right frame of mind for creating elaborate imagery. Anyway, this illustration kind of reflects how i feel right now, a little dull. I need food and sleep. Goodnight.

The sun is shining today and everything is glorious. I felt the need to draw an underwater lovely mermaid type scene because it's that time of year. The time when the sea sparkles under the summer sun and everybody relaxes on the beach in the warmth...it's just lovely. I'm not sure why i associate mermaids with this time of year, but hey, it meant i could go crazy with patterns and curly things. Once again, this was an image I decided to create based on how i feel today, letting my creativity do what it wants!

AAAAAHHHHHH. No time. Literally. I have just returned to my Falmouth house after a mini weeks holiday with the Anderson's. I literally had no time to think about today's image. everyone loves dogs and pretty lampposts right? Great. Enjoy. Bye for now!

The exact words that Amy so kindly suggested..."Stars and shadows dancing on the Moon". Stars and Moon! Couldn't get better than that!

Thanks again to Jane McGuinness for this image idea. The original suggestion was 'Poker-dot flowers dancing', so i decided to add a little twist. Say hello to 'The Pokadots' the all new singing and dancing garden rock band!

Thank you to Jane McGuinness for suggesting this lovely image! Gotta love a bit of dog surfing with the odd star! :D Digital again straight onto the computer in Photoshop. I would've liked to have spent a bit more time on this, but unfortunately this week is proving a big challenge since i'm on a mini holiday with the Anderson family. Therefore we're out all day gallivanting around Cornish coasts, coming home shattered and eating dinner, then i work up the strength and brain power to create my image of the day! And try to make it worthwhile for you guys to enjoy :) Anyway, only 6 more images to go!!!

Okay, so this is more of a joke image...I'm pretty sure a lot of people get the names Frodo (as in the hobbit) and Freddo (the very tasty little cadbury's frog) mixed up. Stella knows exactly what i mean anyhoo. Thank you Stella for suggesting this image as part of the easter Challenge. I thought i'd have a bit of fun with this one.

THE ULTIMATE EASTER CHALLENGE: Numero 23: Venus Fly Trap Goes Veggie by Only Eating Vegetarians (12/04/2010)
This illustration was my Mother's idea, and I felt i should slip it sneakily into the challenge early to celebrate the purchase of my new Venus Fly Trap plant. I bought it from Trebah Gardens yesterday on my adventures.
It's such a fun novelty plant to own and has so much character! Mum suggested having the plant eating someone, leaving only their legs visible, wearing a pair of converse or something. To make it ironic, i made the victim a vegetarian. So we have the idea that this carnivorous plant who's turned vegetarian.........because he only eats vegetarians. Simple as that. Oh and the plant is named Percy Seymour. He is very pleased to meet you. Especially if you're Vegetarian...(which i am......hmmmm didn't think that one through did i....)

My wonderful Mum suggested the idea of creating an image showing what all the Christmas decorations get up to in the loft when they're not being used. I imagine they have a smashing god time :) Glooooooooow times!

HAD I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet,
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Thank you Joe Skidmore for requesting this rather bizarre image. Twas rather fun to do! I almost ran out of time to complete today's image so it is rather rough, but done none-the-less! The exact description..."cabbages in pyjamas sat around a campfire with a Native American chieftain cabbage blowing on a bubble pipe." So there you have it...nuff said.

Thanks to Sam for this image idea. I took this one literally. Little cute biiiiiiird, glowing of course! Laaaadeeedaaah!

Those of you who know me will have heard of the famous Zonk characters that have taken over a lot of my illustration work (and one day, the WORLD)...These small green rather pointless creatures.
Thank you to Esther for coming up with the theme of 'Faeiries' for today's image. The result may not be quite what you were expecting, but it's all good fun :) To be truthful, I didn't have much time today to go into depth with my image like some previous ones, so decided to keep it light-hearted. I was not prepared to fail the challenge by missing a day! NEVER! I've come this far with over two weeks worth of illustrations, so there's no going back now! 31 is the aim, to complete a months worth! Bring it on.

I thought I'd add a bit of a twist on this one...Thank you to my wonderful friend Rosie for coming up with this title. I love drawing cats and decorative glowy things, so why not have a lovely decorative glowy cat, and a small pretty mouse. Yes. Enjoy.

Nice n simple...The Meaning of Life. Well, you tell me! (p.s. I actually completed this image at 1.30am, so it feels like I've done two images in one day...but in fact, it's technically the next day anyway, which is why i can officially post this as the image for the 4th April, OH and it's EASTER, sooooooo HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY!.....I'm rambling now because i am over-tired and should be in bed. GOODNIGHT.)

Thanks to Ollie for recommending the Poem 'Crossing the Bar' by Alfred Lord Tennyson. It's a beautiful poem about a peaceful death and crossing over to the other side; Heaven. You can read the poem here; http://quotations.about.com/cs/poemlyrics/a/Crossing_Bar.htm.
I wanted to incorporate all of the peaceful and magical elements of the poem and tried to convey exactly what i saw in my head when reading it. I'm rather pleased with the outcome; I think this portrays my style quite well and of course, there's plenty of glowy texture as is tradition in any classic Lil illustration!

This image was lovely to do. I kind of lost myself in it whilst digitally painting blankets and glowy things. Thank you to Debi for suggesting this image. These were the exact words I was given to work with... "i went out in the rain suddenly everything changed, they were spreading blankets on the beach (first day of my life by bright eyes)" This is what I saw in my head when i read this. I have added a sepia version of the image which i thought was particularly nice.
Enjoy with a nice of tea :)

Happy April's Fools Day! This image isn't a trick though, it's real, and it's the one and only JABBERWOCKY! Well, my interpretation anyway :) Credit goes to James Watts for suggesting this idea! I thought it would be quite a hard one to illustrate, but it turned out really rather fun! Here's a link to original poem 'Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll if, like Alice, you're a bit curious...http://www.jabberwocky.com/carroll/jabber/jabberwocky.html.
